ABOUT THE HOUSE

LOCATION Nestled on half an acre between Lake Michigan and the Kalamazoo River, Mulberry Pines is a modern, quaint cabin under the pine trees. We're just a quick walk, bike, or drive to the beach, hiking trails, or downtown Saugatuck and Douglas. Our home is styled after a Modern Cabin vibe, but still staying true to its history as a cabin getaway built in 1948. |
3 BEDROOMS & 2 BATHROOMS
The house offers a large primary suite with a king bed and bathroom with a walk in shower and jacuzzi bathtub. Upstairs in the loft is the ideal getaway for couples or families to feel up in the trees with a king bed and trundle twin bed. Located right off the kitchen is the third bedroom with a queen bed and twin bunk beds, perfect for a couple or all the kids. Down the hallway is the full guest bathroom featuring a shower/tub combo, large vanity, as well as the washer/dryer closet.

The open concept living and dining room has a massive couch that can hold everyone staying, large Samsung Frame TV, wood burning fireplace, and long dining table that can hold 6-8 people.

KITCHEN
The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you need to cook an amazing dinner. From dishes, cups, wine glasses, silverware, bakeware, cookware, basic appliances, olive oil, salt and pepper, and spices, you will be ready to start cooking from the moment you arrive. The kitchen also has a bar counter top on the island with seating for 4 and small breakfast table with seating for 6 to enjoy a nice morning breakfast.
BACKYARD
The fenced in backyard is perfect for relaxation with lounge furniture, dining table, and the star of the show, a 5 person hot tub open year round. If you're staying during June, look out for the Mulberry Tree in the backyard and feel free to pick and eat some.

We didn’t want for anything, and the kitchen was outstanding—it can often be hard to cook at Airbnbs and you have to make a run to the store, but Jacob’s kitchen had EVERYTHING and more. The home is spacious but somehow still cozy. It was pristine in terms of cleanliness. They had great board game options, and the hot tub was so relaxing after a long day. The area is beautiful, and there was lots to do—even this late in the “off season” part of the year. Plus, it’s a wooded lot which feels very private, and we saw deer and turkeys. "A lovely, quiet, woodsy spot between the lakes (Kalamazoo and Michigan). There are deer on just about every other property, looking at you with blasé curiosity. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the front yard (in the daytime, even without a fire). The large hot tub was nice and secluded, in the small back patio. Kitchen generously supplied, beds soft and comfortable... The restaurant recommendations in the booklet were much appreciated; we thought the Wild Dog Grille was fabulous.
The power went out our second night there, and soon afterward the property manager stopped by, bringing us tea lights if we wanted them. We had a couple of camping torches and already had a fire going in the fireplace, using the composite log that was thoughtfully provided, so we were nicely set up for an evening of conversation and trivia questions. All in all, a very relaxing, memorable trip."

"Don’t look any further. This house is an absolute gem. Tons of space for our two families (4 adults and 4 kids ages 7-10). The hot tub was wonderful. We used it every night. "Hidden Gem in Saugatuck/ Douglas: The house is on a quiet street just a modest walk away from Douglas Beach and the Saugatuck Chain Ferry.
Our favorite features of the house were the large kitchen and the hot tub. We used both extensively. Our group of 6 adults had plenty of room to spread out and relax.
The hot tub fits 3 large adults pretty easily, and 4 adults is possible but only if you’re careful not to slosh water over the edge.
During our week long stay, the maintenance person stopped by once to check the condition of the water in the hot tub, and a landscaper stopped by once to blow the pine needles off the patio and driveway that had fallen during a storm the previous day, so it’s clear that the home is well taken care of.
The only thing I would point out is that there is a single, small step between each room on the ground floor which won’t be an issue for most people as long as you’re paying attention when you walk around in the dark so you don’t stub a toe."

"AMAZING location - minutes away from downtown Saugatuck, short bike ride to the beach - but feels like your own cozy, private retreat in the woods, complete with grazing deer. My family’s stay was lovely from the start, arriving to find lights on, music playing and everything just so. The space was very comfortable for 2 parents and 3 teens. The adults loved the hot tub and spa-style master bath, while the kids especially appreciated the super fast Wi-Fi, sound system and the hammock out front. Hosts provided a great book of recommendations for restaurants and activities - all were spot on. And there were thoughtful details throughout the house including helpful labels and instructions, board games, and snuggly blankets for lounging on the oversized couch."

Pre-arrival communication was easy, check-in and entry was simple, and the house had all we needed including a very well equipped kitchen. We mainly rented the house for the hot tub and that was a highlight for us. Even though there is a small motel next door, you really can't tell it's there. The backyard (where the hot tub is located) is fenced off and there are a few beautiful pines that make the space special. Great location on the lake side of the river in Saugatuck-Douglas. The house is furnished with a modern style, coupled with comfortable beds, smart TV's, and a fireplace for a cozy winter stay. Winter or summer, the property has a gorgeous front yard for a bonfire and backyard is fenced in and private with a hot tub and commercial outdoor heaters. The entire house is wired with sonos speakers and google home controls. We LOVED it. The neighborhood is quiet, short 5 minute drive to Oval Beach or downtown Saugatuck. There were also enough clean towels for bathing and for the hot tub. The cottage also has some very nice technological perks, such as multi-room Sonos speakers for whole-house music, a smart TV in the living room, and a Google Assistant that can control some devices and answer questions! The bedrooms were clean and very comfortable. We made ample use of the hot tub, which was very nice and well maintained, and also made use of the fireplace and fire pit - wood was provided for both of these amenities! We spent a good amount of time relaxing in the living room, which was a nicely sized space to hang out and chat. "A lovely, quiet, woodsy spot between the lakes (Kalamazoo and Michigan). There are deer on just about every other property, looking at you with blasé curiosity. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the front yard (in the daytime, even without a fire). The large hot tub was nice and secluded, in the small back patio. Kitchen generously supplied, beds soft and comfortable... The restaurant recommendations in the booklet were much appreciated; we thought the Wild Dog Grille was fabulous.
The power went out our second night there, and soon afterward the property manager stopped by, bringing us tea lights if we wanted them. We had a couple of camping torches and already had a fire going in the fireplace, using the composite log that was thoughtfully provided, so we were nicely set up for an evening of conversation and trivia questions. All in all, a very relaxing, memorable trip."

"Hidden Gem in Saugatuck/ Douglas: The house is on a quiet street just a modest walk away from Douglas Beach and the Saugatuck Chain Ferry.
Our favorite features of the house were the large kitchen and the hot tub. We used both extensively. Our group of 6 adults had plenty of room to spread out and relax.
The hot tub fits 3 large adults pretty easily, and 4 adults is possible but only if you’re careful not to slosh water over the edge.
During our week long stay, the maintenance person stopped by once to check the condition of the water in the hot tub, and a landscaper stopped by once to blow the pine needles off the patio and driveway that had fallen during a storm the previous day, so it’s clear that the home is well taken care of.
The only thing I would point out is that there is a single, small step between each room on the ground floor which won’t be an issue for most people as long as you’re paying attention when you walk around in the dark so you don’t stub a toe."

Pre-arrival communication was easy, check-in and entry was simple, and the house had all we needed including a very well equipped kitchen. We mainly rented the house for the hot tub and that was a highlight for us. Even though there is a small motel next door, you really can't tell it's there. The backyard (where the hot tub is located) is fenced off and there are a few beautiful pines that make the space special. Great location on the lake side of the river in Saugatuck-Douglas. Winter or summer, the property has a gorgeous front yard for a bonfire and backyard is fenced in and private with a hot tub and commercial outdoor heaters. The cottage also has some very nice technological perks, such as multi-room Sonos speakers for whole-house music, a smart TV in the living room, and a Google Assistant that can control some devices and answer questions!
